Dina De Brozzi was born in Parma, Italy in 1971. At the age of 10 her father gave her a set of oil paints on the understanding that it would remain only a hobby, but twenty-six years or so later, painting is still very much her passion and also her profession. Although she attended the Artistic Lyceum in Bologna and the Institute of Decorative Arts in Paris, she considers herself a self taught artist because figurative art in the traditional way is almost no longer taught in art schools. Through spending her childhood in Italy she has inherited the fabulous wealth of Italian art history, which remains for her a constant source of inspiration. Every year Dina continues to attend classes at Charles Cecil Studios in Florence, and Nicholas Beer Sarum Studio in England, were portraiture is taught according to the old master technique of observation from life, in particular using the technique of sight-size whereby the representation and subject appear the same size when viewed side by side from a specific distance.

Since 2000 Dina has settled in Antigua where she now lives permanently with her husband, Andrew Goodenough, and continues to run her Trompe l’oeil studio side by side with her independent fine art work.
